Summer adventure weekend in Swedish Lapland

  • This is a five-day (four nights) summer experience in Swedish Lapland.

Have you ever dreamed about experience the arctic circle during the summer? Hiking in the midnight sun, canoeing on the river through the silent forest with chances to spot a beaver. Now you have the chance to join us for a summer weekend experience in Swedish Lapland!  

The days are filled with great outdoor experiences together with the possibility watch wild animals and to learn more about the arctic way of life.

During this time of the year the sun never set. That means it will be light 24 hours a day so no headlamp will be needed during your stay in the Arctic Circle. And no worries about the day light when you want to go and sleep. All the huts have blinders.

Program

Day 1

If you arrive by train or flight to Luleå you’ll meet your guide at the station/airport around 1 p.m for transportation to Jockfall Lodge, located on the shore of the Kalix River and mighty Jockfallet waterfall outside the door. If you arrive by car you can drive directly to Jockfall. 

At arrival you will check in to your room. When everyone is settled we welcome you to to the start up meeting to go through our days together. 

We enjoy dinner in the restaurant at Jockfall Lodge and afterwards we go for a stroll to watch the waterfall and also the bay to see the salmons jumping.

Night at Jockfall Lodge or outside in a Tentipi. It’s your choice.

Day 2

After breakfast it’s time to suite up for an outdoor hike to the top of a mountain in the landscape of the taiga forests. On our way up we do several stops to look at the scenery. When we reach the top we get rewarded with a stunning view over Kalix River. Lunch is enjoyed around the campfire together with coffee or tea. This is a full day experience with good chances to spot some of the wild animals, such as the Moose, its little cousin the Reindeer or the amazing Capercaillie.   

Back at Jockfall Lodge the relax waits for you with sauna and hot tube bath. 

Dinner is served in the Jockfall Lodge restaurant with local specialities and Nordic tastes.

Night at Jockfall Lodge our outside in a Tentipi. It’s your choice. 

Day 3

Today its time for you to try out cycling on a fat bike. The tour starts on a higher altituded compared to the finish line which is at Jockfall Lodge. That will make the tour a bit more pleasant and easy. We do several stops along the trails. We get to learn more about the Sami culture with the reindeers. Lunch is served in one of the historical woods mens hut together with tea or coffee. This is a full day activity.

Back at the Lodge the relax is available if you feel for a hot sauna and bath before dinner. 

Evening stroll along the river for everyone that wants to come along.

Day 4

This is your day. Choose to take part in the arranged activities or do your own thing. Stay extra long in bed and enjoy a slow breakfast. Read a good book in front of the fireplace and go for a slow stroll or maybe you prefer to go fishing. Hot lunch will be served at Jockfall Lodge. 

If you choose to follow we will go canoeing. This gives us the opportunity to come close to nature and really experience the Arctic forest in Swedish Lapland. During the tour we make a stop at some nice place to have an outdoor meal next to a camp fire. This is a full day experience that will last for about five hours and we paddel 10-15 kilometers. 

Back at Jockfall Lodge the Relax will of course be available. This will be our last dinner together for this trip.

Day 5

Slow breakfast before it’s time to say good bye to Jockfall for this time. Transportation to Luleå. We’ll be in Luleå around 11.30 a.m at the latest so you’ll be able to catch a train or flight from around 13.00 a.m.

For who?

Minimum age 13 years together with legal guardian. Participants must be able to move a couple of hours outside without difficulties. Moderate level of effort. You need to be in good health. No injuries or diseases causing problems with heart, pulmonary and so on. 

Small groups

This is about sharing the experience of the Arctic lifestyle. That’s why we only bring small groups at the same time. Maximum of 8 participants with one local guide.

How to get here?

The first day we meet you at Luleå Airport or Luleå Central Station about 1 p.m. And drop you off the last day at 11.30 a.m. 

Train: If you want to travel by train from Stockholm or Arlanda to Luleå Central Station we suggest that you choose the night train. The ride takes about 13 hours but since you will sleep most of the time it feels more like a time machine than a train. The prefect start on your adventure! And also god for the environment! 

You book the train tickets easiest online at www.sj.se. The tickets are released about three months prior departure. Before that it can look like the tickets are sold out. 

There are different levels of accommodation on the train with different prices. Depending on how much privacy and comfort you want. The trains have bistro with different kinds of meals, snacks and beverages. 

Flight: You can fly from Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) to Luleå Airport (LLA). The trip takes about 90 minutes of airtime. Your guide will meet you at the airport.

Car: If you are driving a car its easiest to go all the way to Jockfall. Just put in following in the GPS:

Cancellation policy
  • We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 14 frontend day or less before event
  • We will charge a cancellation fee of 75% if booking is cancelled 30 frontend day or less before event
  • We will charge a cancellation fee of 50% if booking is cancelled 45 frontend day or less before event

We don’t sell them park experiences. We invite you to share our Nordic lifestyle in the wild nature of Swedish Lapland. Therefore can experiences such as seeing Nordic Light and wild animals never be guaranteed. But we promise to always do our best so you can enjoy the adventure.
